Basketball: Is LeBron James Leaving The Cavs?

Why is LeBron teasing us?!

james-wade-3 Sunday night in a pregame interview at the Nets’ Izod Center (Cavs 96/Nets 88) the subject of the rivalry between LeBron James and Dwyane Wade came up.  It was mentioned that they’ll never match up in an NBA Finals if one of them doesn’t switch conferences after the 2010 free agent market period.

james-wade-1  “It doesn’t matter — whatever happens, we’ll go against each other,” James replied. “Maybe we’ll go against each other in practice. That would be fine.”  What the heck does that mean??? Is LeBron saying that he and Dwyane will be in the same conference soon enough?

Will Dwyane Wade go to Cleveland?

Will Wade and James both go to the Knicks?

james-wade This is the kind of cavalier chatter that will cause Cleveland fans to freak and Knicks fans to wish upon a star.  But in reality, why would LeBron leave the Cavs?  Everything in Cleveland is created with him in mind – in reality he IS King James of Cleveland.  If King James won’t go to the mountain, maybe the mountain will go to Cleveland.

  1. Maybe he meant practice when they play together for Team USA.

    • Dunkonu — He might have. But I’m a Knicks fan (pray for me) and am simply stirring up trouble. 🙂

      Cheers!

  3. As a UK-based Lebron fan, I found your blog on google and read a few of your other NBA posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

    • Hi there LeBron fan! I love him as well. I also love D. Wade and Kobe and am pretty biased when I speak about them. 🙂

      Please visit again!

      Cheers!

  4. I hope the Knicks will get either LeBron or Wade when they hit free agency. LeBron is in a pretty good situation right now, tho, but what exactly do the Heat have to offer to convince Wade to stay? A washed-up Jermaine O’Neal and Jamario Moon? C’mon…

Wade to New York looks more realistic to me. 🙂

    • Dunkonu — Wade has said in the past that he doesn’t want to play in NYC but like you said, what does the Heats have to offer him? I think he would be a great fit in NY. I can hope… 🙂

      Cheers!

  5. Like most top athletes, I’ll bet both LeBron and D Wade will consider where their chances are best to bring home an NBA title ring. New York seems so far from that right now, it is hard to imagine that in a year’s time that could have enough pieces in place to make an appeal based on being a contender. It is also hard to imagine LeBron leaving Cleveland where he truly is the King. Never say never these days, though.

    • Hoopsfan – I agree with you. Wade has a ring. Bryant has several. James has none. I know James want (and deserves) a ring really bad and Wade wants another and another and he deserves it. I hope Cleveland does what it has to do to get King James a team that will get him a ring.

I ‘think’ that maybe Wade will go to the Cavs — they can afford to have both James and Wade on their payroll. Hmmm…
