Former President Bill Clinton Visits North Korea — Laura Ling and Euna Lee Released!!!

North Korea Journalists Held Laura Ling and Euna Lee leaving North Korea!!!

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has issued a “special pardon” to Laura Ling and Euna Lee the two American journalists convicted of sneaking into the country illegally, and he ordered them released during a visit by former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

The release of Ling and Lee was a sign of North Korea’s “humanitarian and peace loving policy,” the Korean Central News Agency reported.

Bill Clinton arrived in North Korea Tuesday on an unannounced visit and met with the reclusive and ailing Kim.

North Korea accused Ling, 32, and Lee, 36, of sneaking into the country illegally in March and engaging in “hostile acts” and the nation’s top court sentenced them in June to 12 years of hard labor.

Hooray!!! Yeah!!! And God Bless Bill Clinton!!!

  1. That’s amazing! If all it took was Bill Clinton then we should use him more often.
A sign of “humanitarian and peace loving policy,”? Please, more like a sign that Ling and Lee couldn’t be used for any political gains for the government. I wish we could know what was said in that meeting for sure cause that’s cool what Clinton did. Also hat tip to Hilary Clinton for keeping up a hardline and not being soft on the North Korean government.

    • and I just read this, I guess this will be the new spin of the GOP to turn this into a bad thing by suggesting Clinton “negotiated with terrorists” http://thinkprogress.org/2009/08/04/bolton-north-korea-journalists/

      • Sensico, the Repubs are like an old, unwanted outdated record – broken and useless.

They NEVER have anything to offer that will solve a problem; they only knock what others do because they don’t have any solutions.

I give Bill Clinton much respect and thanks for going to North Korea – someone had to do it! Ling and Lee are Americans and it should be our priority to get them home.

What would Bolton have happen to them? IS he somehow suggesting that America leave these two women in North Korea???!!! What an azz!

Bill Clinton did not go as a representative of the American government. He went as an unofficial Ambassador on behalf of Al Gore — the ’employee’ of Ling and Lee.

Let me repeat — Bolton is an ass!

        Good to hear from you!

        Cheers!

  2. Many negotiations were done behind the scenes, and I imagine that part of the deal included sending a high-profile person to North Korea. Nonetheless, President Clinton was willing to step to the plate for that role.

The conservative response is predictable, thus I simply shake my head. What if the situation played out & President Bush was the envoy? Would the talking heads being saying the same thing?
