Show Me The Money! John Edwards’ Mistress Will NOT Seek Paternity Test

Posted by Paulette on August 9, 2008

Surprise, surprise, Rielle Hunter, John Edwards’ mistress won’t seek a paternity test to prove whether he’s the father of her 5-month-old child, her lawyer said Saturday.

In a statement he provided to the Washington Post, attorney Robert Gordon said that Rielle Hunter is a private citizen and that she will not comment further on the media frenzy sparked Friday when Edwards publicly acknowledged the affair.

“She wishes to maintain her privacy” and the privacy of her child, Gordon said in the statement. “Furthermore, Rielle will not participate in DNA testing or any other invasion of her … privacy now or in the future.”

Gordon said Saturday that he would not immediately be releasing the statement to anyone else and will not be doing interviews about it.

After months of denying the affair, Edwards admitted making “a serious error in judgment” in 2006 when he had an affair with Hunter, a filmmaker who worked making videos for his presidential campaign.

Call me cynical, but I am sure that there is some ‘indirect’ transfer of monies going on.  Afterall Rielle isn’t working and she has to live and provide for her child.

What’s the next move for Rielle – Europe?

Are Americans On The Edge? Are Americans Losing Their Heads?

Posted by Paulette on August 9, 2008

Are Americans on the edge? Are we losing our heads? Has the economic climate stressed people out or are just losing our sense of judgment?  Or have we become so narcissistic that we believe everything should be the exact way we want it and we can do anything we want to?  What’s going on?

A couple of weeks ago a man walked in to a church and killed several people because he didn’t like their ‘liberal’ views.  Jim D. Adkisson, 58, an out-of-work trucker, was accused of killing two people and wounding six others during a children’s musical at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. A four-page letter found in Adkisson’s SUV indicated he picked the church for the attack because, the Knoxville police chief said, “he hated the liberal movement” of the congregation. Adkisson’s ex-wife once belonged to the church but hadn’t attended in years.  Adkisson had been on the verge of losing his food stamps. “It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job, his frustration over that, and his stated hatred for the liberal movement,” Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen said. Adkisson “stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country.”  Adkisson was a loner who hates “blacks, gays and anyone different from him,” longtime acquaintance said.

Last week a man called 911 three times because he didn’t get the sauce on his sandwiches. What the heck??? Maybe this was his last $12?

Olympics: Let The Games Begin!!! (See Times and Schedules)

Posted by Paulette on August 9, 2008

Let the games begin!!!

I am no fan of the Chinese government – no way, nee, nu, bus hi, daong, na, nyet! (No in several languages).

But I am a lover of sports.  Yes I am!  But as a form of my own silent protest, because of the inhumanity of the Chinese government and in empathy for the Chinese citizens, I will not watch the Olympics.

It’s painful – I very much want to watch the US basketball teams (men and women), gymnastics, volleyball, swimming and of course track and field.  In particular the 100m and 200m (go King and Lightening!!!).

I will however follow the results on-line and in the news. If you plan on watching and aren’t sure of ‘the hot events’, try to watch Lopez Lamont (USA) 800m – he’s one of the lost boys of Sudan and his story is inpirational and shows that if we how we love each other and leave the fears behind we will make the world a better place.

Those of you who will watch to honor and support the brilliant athletes of the world who have trained and sacrificed for years and years and have the opportunity to represent themselves and their countries, another must watch event is the Men’s 100m and 200m where America and Jamaica will go head-to-head.  Both races promises to be spectacular. And if you can, don’t miss any of the men’s basketball games.

Bernie Mac Dies At 50

Posted by Paulette on August 9, 2008

Comedian/actor and all round talented guy Bernie Mac dies from complications caused by pneumonia early Saturday morning at the age of 50.

Sources say that his pneumonia isn’t related to the inflammatory lung disease that Mac also has. That condition has been in remission since 2005. No other details are immediately available.

Bernie Mac (Mac Man) was born in Chicago in 1957.  6 foot 3 inch Bernard Jeffrey McCollough grew up in Chicago, in a rougher neighborhood than most others, with a large family living under one roof. This situation provided him with a great insight into his comedy, as his family, and the situations surrounding them would be what dominated his comedy. Mac worked in the Regal Theater, and performed in Chicago parks in his younger days. He became a professional comedian in 1977, at the age of 19. He refused to change his image for television and films, and therefore was not very well known for most of the eighties. In 1992 he made his film debut with a small part with Mo’ Money (1992). This started a string of small parts in a string of movies, mostly comedies, including Who’s the Man? (1993), House Party 3 (1994) and The Walking Dead (1995). 1995 proved to be a turning point in his career. He did an HBO Special called “Midnight Mac” (1995), and took a part as Pastor Clever in the Chris Tucker comedy Friday (1995). Bernie Mac developed a cult following due to the movie and had many small parts since. In 1996 he starred in the memorable Spike Lee movie Get on the Bus (1996), and was very funny in Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996).

About this time he had a recurring role in the TV series “Moesha” (1996). Bernie Mac’s star was slowly rising from this point. His next couple of movie parts were more substantial, including How to Be a Player (1997) and The Players Club (1998). In 1999 Bernie Mac got his most high profile part up to that point in the film Life (1999/I) starring Eddie Murphy.
