Phil Gramm’s (Dr. Phil Jr.) “Mental recession” remark was about the dumbest political remark possible especially with the price for ‘regular’ gas being $4.10! That’s one of the reasons I will not vote for a republican – their heads are stuck up their ass and they are out of touch! They do not understand my life and my concerns.
“You’ve heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession,” he said, noting that growth has held up at about 1 percent despite all the publicity over losing jobs to India, China, illegal immigration, housing and credit problems and record oil prices. “We may have a recession; we haven’t had one yet.”
Mental recession my ass!!! I know Cindy McCain is a heiress and spent $750,000 on her credit card in May (one month worth of charges!) so I guess they don’t understand someone’s pension plan losing $20,000, $50,000 or $75,000 in six months and how destructive that is. I guess they don’t understand someone losing their entire pension in companies like Enron and how devastating that is!

Campaign officials say Republican John McCain raised more than $22 million in June for his presidential bid which can be spent after the republican convention and before November 4.
That’s McCain’s best month yet. He ends the month of June with nearly $27 million cash on hand, according to campaign officials.
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said Thursday that McCain and the national Republican Party together entered the month of July with about $95 million in the bank.
The money has given McCain the ability to outspend Democratic rival Barack Obama on television advertising in key battleground states, Davis says.
Obama has not yet revealed his June fundraising.

John McCain is known for his frequent chats with reporters and his willingness to discuss nearly any issue.
But at least one is off-limits, the Republican presidential nominee suggested Wednesday: Viagra.
“I certainly do not want to discuss that issue,” the Arizona senator said aboard his “Straight Talk Express” bus in Ohio, according to the Associated Press.
But the off-message topic was raised from a member of McCain’s own team: national co-chairwoman Carly Fiorina, who had said earlier women often express frustration over the fact many health insurance plans cover Viagra but not birth control medication.
“Let me give you a real, live example, which I’ve been hearing a lot about from women. There are many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won’t cover birth control medication. Those women would like a choice,” she said Monday.
A McCain spokesman later said the Arizona senator supported competition in the healthcare industry, presumably allowing women to nix policies that cover Viagra but not their specific needs.
McCain has voted against Senate measures that sought to require insurance companies to cover birth control medication.
