Former Clinton Women’s Outreach Director Joins Team Obama

Posted by Paulette on July 8, 2008

Senator Obama continues to put together an outstanding and diverse team of talented professionals who will reach out to all Americans.

Hillary Clinton’s former director of women’s outreach has become the latest presidential campaign staffer for the New York senator to join Barack Obama’s general election team.

Dana Singiser, a former staff director of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee led by Clinton, will fill the same strategic role she held on the Clinton campaign, heading strategic management of women’s vote outreach.

“I am thrilled that Dana will continue her work with women voters on behalf of Sen. Obama,” Clinton said in a statement released by Obama’s campaign Tuesday. “It is so important that we elect a Democrat to the White House, and women will be critical in that effort. I know that the women who joined my campaign will continue to work with Dana and with me to make sure Barack Obama is the next President of the United States.”

Former Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle was also tapped by the Obama team several weeks ago as chief of staff for the eventual vice presidential nominee.

Other Clinton staffers and advisers to join Obama’s campaign since the end of the primary season include former her former policy director, Neera Tanden.

War: Iraq to America, “Get Out!” America to Iraq, “Hell No, We Won’t Go!”

Posted by Paulette on July 8, 2008

Sometimes the best way to be useful is to get out of somebody’s way. Now that Iraq is standing up and asserting its power as a democratic government (isn’t that’s what the Bush Administration wanted?) and wants America out of its country, the Bush administration is now chanting, Hell No, We Won’t Go”.

I guess now that it looks like Iraq’s oil industry is getting back on its feet America wants to stay.

This also reminds me of The Amityville Horror movie (1979).  The film was based on the allegedly true story of the luckless Lutz family, who moved lock, stock, and barrel into a new home, only to find that it is possessed by the demonic spirits of its previous owners and despite plagues oozing from virtually every household fixture the Lutz’s wouldn’t  leave.   I am saying to the Bush administration, what everyone who watched the Amityville Horror movie said, “For God’s sake, GET OUT!”

In an Access Hollywood exclusive interview, Senator Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, along with daughters Malia, 10 and Sasha, 7 open up about rules, what it is like for friends to meet dad, communicating on the trail, potential plans for moving into the White House and more.

The four-part interview will air on Access Hollywood, Tuesday, July 8, Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10.

Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos caught up with the Obama family on July 4th in Butte, Montana.

Now that the Primary is over, the Obamas manage to get more family time together explains Michelle.  “Barack is home at least once a week.  We’re really doing family stuff like bike rides, swimming, tennis…”

The girls also give advice to their dad about everything from etiquette to fashion.  One time when a friend of Malia’s came over, he shook her hand to say hello.  Malia recalls telling her dad, “You really don’t shake kids’ hands that much…You just have to wave or say hi.”

When asked what they do that makes mommy and daddy mad, both girls were quick to comment.  Sasha says ‘whining’.

Malia explains, “Arguing is the worst thing because then they sit us down and say, “You know you guys are the best thing that you have in your life.”  We’re never going to get something as good as each other.”

Economy: New Mortgage Rules To Protect Future Homeowners

Posted by Paulette on July 8, 2008

In an effort to prevent a repeat of the current mortgage mess, Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke says the Fed next week will issue new rules aimed at protecting future homebuyers from dubious lending practices.

The mortgage rules will crack down on a range of shady lending practices that has burned many of the nation’s riskiest “subprime” borrowers who were hardest hit by the housing and credit debacles. The plan would apply to new loans made by thousands of lenders of all types, including banks and brokers.  The plan would:
